Knew a lot about the '73 version of Superstar through cultural osmosis before even sitting down to watch it but man, even when you know the punchlines and songs in advance everything still hits like a truck.
This rendition of "Gethsemane" in particular might be my favorite musical number of all time.
It's funny looking at the Y2K era computer animation efforts from both America and Japan to see where each countries mind was at. Can't think of another sequel I've seen that undermines its predecessor this badly.
I came out of the first movie falling in love with the Mortal Kombat universe. After this one I never want to spend another second with it.
