I’ve been active on tumblr for way too long, but back in 2014 with the rise of the Vaporwave music & visuals, I was introduced to what would only later be known as liminal spaces. Much of what the vaporwave aesthetic was comprised of was its specific musical offshoots (Floral Shoppe & Blank Banshee, anyone?), its love of the 80s/90s products and commercials, and - in classic backrooms fashion - old, abandoned locations with displaced furniture and unsettling camera angles and lighting.…
