I didn’t have high expectations just because this is not a genre I personally like, plus I know nothing about the novel or story in general.. But I have to admit that this was pretty entertaining, and I enjoyed a lot of it.. also the cinematography and sound were GREAT!!
Meryem Touzani is one of the most important Moroccan filmmakers working today. She just needs to start casting Moroccan actors for Moroccan roles because as talented as Lubna Azabal and Saleh Bakri are and as much as I understand wanting to work with them, they just can’t do Moroccan dialect and it’s suuper distracting, I needed subtitles to fully understand what I was watching, some expressions used in the dialogue were also quite weird, it kinda felt like they were translated from French or English.
This is yet another Moroccan film that feels like it was made for non-Moroccans, using Moroccan culture as a prop only..
