A quiet coming-of-age story that captures grief through the fragmented perspective of a child who doesn’t fully understand what’s happening around her yet. The slow pacing, dreamlike atmosphere, and moments of imagination make the film feel less like a narrative and more like drifting through someone’s fading childhood memories.

The Convenience Store
★★ Watched

After Exit 8, i really hoped this would finally be the good horror game adaptation. nope. the movie had some genuinely creepy moments and i liked the whole late-night convenience store setting, but the pacing was painfully slow and the plot became more incoherent the longer it went. all buildup, barely any payoff.

This is the kind of movie that feels completely ridiculous until you realize how sincere it actually is. Beneath all the rococo dresses, chaotic editing, exaggerated comedy, and early 2000s weirdness is a really sweet story about two girls trying to find comfort in a world where neither of them truly fit in. Momoko escapes into elegance and fantasy while Ichigo hides her softness behind biker-gang bravado, yet somehow they become each other’s safest place.
