Really the movie has a couple too many side plots, I can see the importance of them as Marty trying literally everything possible to make it to Japan to the point of ignoring all other opportunities in front of him and ruining others lives but it was a bit unfocused. I liked that the cathartic release at the end was internal to Marty rather than killing him off.
