I really enjoyed the first half of this film. The second half was significantly slower, as if the narrative had just lost steam. Despite this, I never took my eyes off the screen. Beautifully shot and well acted. Films like this are a little outside my normal fare, but I enjoyed it quite a lot.
I loved every single frame of this 3-hour masterpiece. You can see the influence of painters like Remington and Russell, as damn near every frame was a painting in itself. Its scale is epic and paints the story of western expansion in its truest light - violent, bloody, and desperate.
