FUCK YES DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS BABY WHOOHOOOOO!!!

I'm kinda living for the resurgence of catholic imagery in combination with an inherent distrust of the infallibility of its institutions. The possibility of having a positive view of faith but a critical view of the church. See Wake Up, Dead Man or in a somewhat lesser way The Two Popes.
The first and final shots of this movie perfectly bookend this mixture of political thriller and philosophical questioning about the nature of modern religion. As Cardinal Benitez says in the movie, the real church is all the people, not just the Conclave.

Under no circumstances should you ever be friends with somebody who has themselves on display as a nude painting in their kitchen. A nude painting belongs in the drawing room next to the big globe that holds the hidden bar, something somebody with class would know. Red Flag!

Apparently this had about 8000$ budget and they really made the most out of it. Not enough actual cooking for my taste but definitely elevated above a lot of low-budget comedies. Also the first movie from Zimbabwe I've ever watched.

Wirklich gut gemacht. Die Serie beginnt mit einem so einfachen Problem und dann schraubt sich die Spirale um Peppis Jugendsünden immer weiter und tiefer. Gerade die emotionale Auflösung und der Einsichtsmoment in der letzten Folge haben mich dann auch nochmal richtig mitgenommen. Ich weiß nicht, ob ich die Enthüllung der letzten Szene gebraucht hätte, aber anscheinend wollte man sich die Tür für eine zweite Staffel offenhalten. Mal schauen, ob die das Niveau halten kann und sich vielleicht nochmal mehr auf die weibliche Perspektive fokussiert. Auch wenn man das zwischendurch mal ironisch gebrochen hat, war der Blick doch sehr stark auf die Jungs gerichtet.
