Back in the day, gay men didn't like it because it was another tragic gay story at a time when there was no positive gay representation. Straight men were uncomfortable with all the male nudity and didn't like that a masculine icon like Al Pacino was going undercover as gay. Nowadays, it's seen as an underrated classic, and a snapshot of the NY gay scene (apparently, everybody looked like Lou Reed back then)…

An educational and non-sensational look at how US agents infiltrate deep web CSAM sites and try to expose those involved. It also talks about the psychological toll of going undercover and being regularly exposed to such awful material. Man, I would hate to have that job.
