The first premiere of The Celluloid Closet took place 30 years ago here at the Castro Theatre. Now, it’s being celebrated with a sold-out screening and an opening Q&A featuring directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman, joined by the documentary’s narrator, Lily Tomlin, reflecting on how the film was made and how it began.

Boots Riley’s I LOVE BOOSTERS is a colorful, layered, explosive ride through the world of boosting. At Castro Theater for 30th Anniversary featuring the directors and Lily Tomlin

The Celluloid Closet
★★★½ Liked

Just came back from watching this at the Castro theatre for its 30 year anniversary. Lily Tomlin was there and I almost cried. She is so legendary. I obviously love this documentary. It’s a start at detailing queer visibility in Hollywood. A very white lens though but still impactful for what it was. Also the historical context that the Castro Theatre has made it ten times better💙 GLAAD to have been there hehe

watched in the castro theater! fun documentary. like watching a youtube clips compilation video from the 90s. made me want to watch hella other movies.
