cynthia erivo does a great job. message is a little surface level, which is fine—it just means that this is very much a classroom film. harriet tubman was by far one of the most important figures in american history and deserves more than an okay film that fits into the biopic formula

ALSO very cool use of nina simone’s sinnerman!!!

nicely executes its sense of absurdity. embodies the feeling of being in a terrifying nightmare and struggling to maintain enough to lucidity to remember it’s just a nightmare. the ending montage was captivating.
