Yes yes yes. Loved this film and cried because it was so beautful. treats music not as performance, but as cultural memory. Feels less like watching a life story of Joe, more like for 100 mins you're inhabiting a world that mostly doesn't exist anymore. The monochrome cinematography is gorgeous, and the tempo is quite slow, allowing you to take in all the details each scene has to offer.
Obvs the music had me sobbing cause Sean-nós has me in a chokehold lol

Decent watch. The acting is great from all and the portrayal of mental health difficulties is done really well. 3.5 stars as I felt lack of depth in some of the characters stories

The best representation of I've seen of modern day Ireland on film, particularly the north of Ireland. As a 98 "peace baby" from Derry, trying to explain the feelings you have towards the language, culture, history and politics is quite difficult. This film represented that in a way I couldn't put into words. GRMA 💚💚

Wow wack film

First review so I will waffle

Lots of different perspectives u can take on the relationship between the main two. I think main one that came up for me is the conversation of misogyny and incels really. First thought is he's wack and behaving like an incel, abducting this woman, claiming she's an alien to justify the actions. the film at times tries to make you feel sympathy for him, justifying his actions because of his mother,…
