A whole different experience watching this with kiddos. I forget how much cartoon violence makes them laugh. 

If you’ve never googled Bobby Driscoll (the voice of Peter Pan), you really should. The character looks just like him.

Best Tyler Hynes Hallmark movie since “It Was Always You.”

Have you ever read the lyrics to the song “Prince Ali”? The words just fly by when watching that sequence, but context clues in the animation help us keep up. What a testament to the genius of lyricist Howard Ashman (RIP). His sense of humor is on full display and I particularly appreciate that he didn’t shy away from using big words that kids wouldn’t know. This song alone: genuflect, coterie, menagerie,

I must admit, I tend to avoid films from the 1920s. This one may just turn me around on that.

Director F.W. Murnau brings his gothic style to this tale of two unnamed humans. He manages tone shifts deftly - building suspense, bringing heart, and including comedic moments too. What shocked me was the pre-Hayes Code aspects. Infidelity! Scanty clothing! Making out! 

This film is nearly 100 years old and is now in the public domain. The version on YouTube is great and free. 🙂
