Lots of wasted potential.
The kills are terrible and barely visible. If you are going to create such a large number of deeply unlikable characters, you should pay off our patience with some memorable kills.
The editing kills the pacing (this is the second movie in a row I’ve watched that appears to fade to black repeatedly for nonexistent commercial breaks). The score is overpowering.

I saw this at the Lovecraft film festival and the first 2/3 of this is very good. Unfortunately it devolves into over explanation.
Also, and most importantly, this film looks like it heavily uses AI for archival photographs. I really hope this isn’t true. But if youve ever seen instagram ai videos of spooky 1800s photographs, thats what it looks like. This film needs to add a disclaimer either way.
