The Apartment
★★★★ Liked Rewatched

The only choice as the grand finale film in my first ever apartment. It’s midnight, I’m surrounded by moving boxes, and I’m eating takeout from around the corner as the folks upstairs clomp around with cinderblock boots. I don’t know where I’ll wind up next…what a strange feeling. I hate moving. Farewell, Derby Slabtown 202 🫡🕊️

”Where are you moving to?”
”I don’t know. All I know is I gotta get out of this place.”

One of the best things The Onion has done. What starts as a satire on sexual reality TV competitions devolves into a dark survival horror story. Here are my favorite quotes from each episode:

Ep. 1: “There’s so much alcohol they barely left any room for food!”

Maximum Fury: Filming 'Fury Road'
★★★★ Watched

I’m sitting here WATCHING the behind the scenes of how they shot Fury Road and I’m still thinking, “nah, that can’t be real.”

The gall of George Miller to even attempt this. The balls of the stunt team to crash cars, swing on poles, and jump down cliffs—all at speed—is incredible. Then there’s the logistics of getting a great shot as well. A constantly moving set. Dust and sand everywhere. I am in awe that this was conceived of, shot, and then assembled into a terrific movie.
