Total Recall
★★★★ Liked Rewatched

Bumping this to four stars because even though the last act is weak, there's still enough of Paul Verhoeven's sensibilities infused into the script along with some absolutely fantastic early 90s effects work.

The Transformers: The Movie
★★★½ Liked Rewatched

The songs in this one still go harder than they ever had any right to do. It's also hilarious all of this takes place in the year 2005.

While I didn't watch any of the video series that this film was built upon, and I'll readily admit this entire film might not have "been for me", I can still applaud some of the genuinely creepy moments, the unrelenting early 90s aesthetic, and the overwhelmingly uncomfortable vibes.

Obsession
★★★★½ Liked Watched

Curry Barker comes out swinging with Obsession, an incredibly tense and creepy take on a monkey's paw-type story. Even when you know something bad is about to happen, Barker lets things linger just long enough to put you in a lull before turning the screws.

The film is also elevated by Inde Navarette's amazing performance where she has to take incredibly sharp turns at the drop of a hat. She has so many scenes that will just make your jaw drop in terror, admiration, or both.

I'm rather excited to see what Barker and Navarette do next.
