I never thought I would see the day when I watched a John Carney movie and didn't love it, let alone wasn't a fan of it whatsoever... but here we are 😔 what's worse, this was my first theatrical John Carney too.

I am so bummed out how much I didn't vibe with Power Ballad. So bland. The one and only song didn't hit at all; I got more excited hearing the faint sounds of 🎶Falling Slowly🎶 and 🎶Lost Stars🎶(? I believe). Paul Rudd feels out of place here and is easily my least favourite part of the movie. The story and characters are very much meh, failing to compel in any capacity, besides the short-lived beauty of Havana Rose Liu. A bummer of a movie-going experience, where I am struggling to find a single thing I liked, and at the same time, finding it hard to find something I truly disliked... or I am maybe just trying to protect my heart by not wanting to admit such a feeling could be had towards a John Carney movie.

I will be falling asleep slowly, courtesy of the UK heat, looking outside the window, searching for the lost stars, figuring the riddle of the model, hoping to meet this movie in the middle.
