“I’m going to be old before I get to do what I want, then I’ll have forgotten what it was.”

Beautiful film about friendship, and about being young and lonely. It navigates the complex feelings that rise within you as you watch your best friend get married, go her own path, and you feel as if you’re left on your own, and how to make peace with that. This film portrays a lot a things that I’ve dealt with and/or scared of dealing with and it has done that in such an honest way.

A truly upsetting film. Having your bodily autonomy robbed away from you in such a way is as horrific as it gets and ‘Obsession’ explores that idea quite creatively. I felt so distraught and awful for Nikki the whole time and so angry at Bear, who is perhaps the worst and most pathetic person ever. However, some aspects of the film didn’t quite work for me, I think they could’ve committed more to the darkness of it all, or committed harder on antagonizing Bear. Still, plenty of good things about this film.

“Viva la revolución!”

Absolutely FUCKING ELECTRIC! This thing just rocks! The almost 3 hour runtime felt like an hour. I loved every second of it. A reminder that no matter how shit it gets, there are still people fighting the good fight, there is still love and there is still hope. Chase Infiniti is a superstar and what PTA did with that road chase scene had me motion sick.

Also, I don’t know what Sean Penn is doing with his acting here but he’s definitely doing something.

Eddington

What a broken, stupid, fucked up world we live in. A world where we’re more connected and more alone than ever. A world where everyone’s convinced everyone’s lying to them. A world where we’re too busy swimming in circles in a sea of shit and paranoia and distrust to remember what actually matters. A world where people are talking at each other rather than with each other. Aster’s Eddington is a cynical portrayal of how it feels to be alive right now. It’s also one of the funniest movies of the year.
