I finally watched the 4K Directors Cut last night. This film has never looked better! I have to say though, I prefer the theatrical cut. I don’t think what’s added adds much to the story to justify its run time and in fact it slows the film down. I especially felt this way with the added night ritual scene and the confrontation between Dani and Christian afterwards. If I had watched the theatrical cut in this 4K presentation it would be an easy 5 stars for me. Love Ari Aster!

I appreciate this one but I find it problematic. It’s supposed to make you feel uncomfortable, yes, but I just don’t really believe what is going on. Especially from the daughter character. Sorry Freud. Good conversation starter though. Maybe I’ll feel differently years from now but I don’t think so.
