The Adventures of Tintin
★★★★½ Liked Rewatched

I’m fascinated by how The Adventures of Tintin got made, a movie co-directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, and co-written by Steven Moffat and Edgar Wright. Four wildly different creative voices coming together to create one of the most exciting, well-paced, tightly-written animated or adventure movies ever made.

The Adventures of Tintin is possibly the best looking CG animated movie, and is certainly the best looking CG animated movie from this era. The movie has a stylised look, like reading a…

Dazed and Confused
★★★★ Liked Watched

Dazed and Confused doesn’t have a plot. There are no real character arcs or notable events. The movie is content to coast along on a loose, breezy tone, to just spend time with a likeable cast full of future stars. At New Year’s, less than a week ago, I found myself frustrated. Frustrated that my life was no different at New Year’s 2026 than it was at New Year’s 2025. But it doesn’t pay enough for me to afford my own place. And more importantly, it doesn’t…

Project Hail Mary

My expectations weren’t high for Project Hail Mary, as the trailers made the movie look more silly than serious.

But I should have trusted Lord & Miller, as Project Hail Mary is a masterpiece, balancing humour, drama, awe, and heartbreak. I laughed throughout, and I had tears in my eyes for the entire back half of the movie.

Much like The Martian rests heavily on Matt Damon’s performance, Project Hail Mary lives or dies on Ryan Gosling’s Dr Grace. Gosling is charming and funny as…
