A master work tale of complacency and conscience. The disgust I felt at the stained legacy of religious control in this country emboldened me to consider the remnants of theocracy present in our culture today. I'd rather not see a movie in 30 years time about how poorly the church treated lgbt people in my lifetime for example. Hopeful Christian that I am, I do believe the Church as an institution in this country can be a force for good.…
I think I still have this toxic idea of ownership over taste, where if something gets too loud or too shared, I start side-eyeing it. Like my enjoyment depends on scarcity. Superman (the goodie) in his red shorts and Lex (the baddie) with his shiny head go toe to toe in this absolute romp. This was just such a gift to me personally, only me. How did they include all my guys? Metamorpho? Mr. Terrific? This is such a jam packed bronze age comic book movie that has 3 world building moments per scene while still managing to be a capital 'S' Superman movie. Daily Planet and Pa and Ma Kent…
