It was so interesting to watch one of Ti West’s early films. I can see a lot of similarities in themes and imagery to his later work, especially the X trilogy.
I loved the atmosphere and vibe here and I found it a really compelling watch for that reason. The pacing left me a little unsatisfied though. While I really liked the first and last 15-20 minutes, most of the middle was kind of lackluster in my opinion. I just wanted a bit more insight into the characters and situation.
Still a really fun and atmospheric time
I don’t need to understand what’s going on, I’m too busy being entranced. I could watch the two leads interact with each other for a week straight against a completely blank screen and not get bored tbh

I knew I would at least enjoy this but I honestly didn’t expect to be so impressed by the cinematography and the fx (especially for the era). I also didn’t expect to really be scared at all but there were a few moments that truly creeped me out almost to the point of goosebumps. The whole cemetery scene, for example? Phenomenal
