unfortunately zahler's idiosyncrasies aren't enough to make this exciting, doubles down on all the issues with bone tomahawk. as expected from a zahler script it is insensitive, violent, and deliberately plodding, but the impersonal workmanlike direction and poor performances from the two leads kills any real investment, and ends up only making zahler's dialogue more alien. awful central romance.
