“You never won’t know what you can’t achieve if before you don’t achieve it.”
The greatest meta-humor and commentary that Scooby Doo has yet to match for 20 years — and some stellar voice acting too.
As much as I wanted to love it, this movie—while certainly funny and high-energy—is just not a Scooby-Doo movie. It’s one thing to break from the canon’s familiar beats to subvert expectations, but it’s quite another to seemingly forget the franchise’s staples. In the end, I found it more resembled Spies in Disguise (2019) or Big Hero Six (2014) than Scooby-Doo.
But it’s still a fun time, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I found myself rewatching it from time to time.
To whomever wrote the punch lines and dressed the sets to include references to the Hanna-Barbera and Scooby-Doo mythos, thank you.
