loved it. astonishing! the plot shift in the second half is so odd to me, i really wouldn’t have guessed, but it’s totally successful. the letter amy (older sasha) reads to her parents as the social worker at the end - just totally true, life is like that, a kind of astonishing frankness. excited to talk about and sit with it.

I was so excited to see this — I love the Shakers, and stories of ecstatic, visionary women — but I was so disappointed! I thought the naturalistic handheld camera was bewildering and distracting, and totally antithetical to the Shaker vision, which is deliberately simple and humble and plain.
