Just rambling.
John Cusack plays the man as such a shithead but slightly more good guy than bad— it’s genuinely remarkable. Tim Robbins though is doing the work of legends.

All of these actors are perfectly cast and do such a wonderful job especially Delroy Lindo, I love that man (special shout-out to Saul Williams). Does a great job switching at the midway point into the vampire film after some incredible musical numbers. The vampires themselves were cool too— Jack O’Connell was as charming as can be and then with a drop of hat just as menacing. Also, loved the momentum that Coogler keeps up throughout the film, never letting us rest and keeps heightening the terror.
Crazy how one of the Michael B. Jordans shot a man in the ass so casually.
I was a Lily-Rose Depp doubter and happy to be to proven wrong. Everyone else was also great but Willem Dafoe was so fun— saying the wildest shit and then losing his goddamn mind. Gorgeously made as well with the scenes in Transylvania being especially beautiful. Really liked how much Eggers investigated the occult here because he could’ve just stuck with the vampire stuff and it would’ve worked out fine but the weaving in the Romani folk beliefs and then Dafoe’s alchemical leanings was really fascinating and enriching.
Maybe needed more horniness.
