Iconic for a reason.

Genuinely was expecting this to be bad (I am an asshole hipster who hates anything that has been recommended to me more than 5 times). I loved it. Queer and beautiful, funny and heartwarming, a happy ending with lesbians, trans men, f*ggots, and Jewish power bottoms all represented.

Completely wowed by this movie. Ray Fiennes doing his best soulful charming eye acting. Angela Basset delivering power and yearning and depth and unyielding, unapologetic badass shit. Bad wigs that totally pay off in the end. Costumes that are both timelessly chic and outrageous. A story setting so specific and engaging…. I was locked in from start to finish. Visually stunning, entertaining, has something important to say and says it. Eloquently.
The only thing I hated about this film was…
I said “Let’s watch a war movie. I want to watch the unbreakable human spirit prevail over terrible odds and see men create lasting intimacy with each other.” And 1917 did not disappoint. Tense and beautifully made. Loved it from start to finish. Better than Dunkirk.
