An intense and daring story into one man’s real life trauma and the profound and inescapable effect of shame in our lives. Such a difficult watch but the acting and narrative was incredibly moving. Obviously this is a true story, but the adaptation was moving, raw, and deeply effective. The confusing cycle of empathy, self loathing, and shame that abuse creates has been so authentically portrayed. A tough watch but a must watch. Richard Gadd has taken back his narrative and his life. But I really, really hope he is doing OK.

Although Anne Hathaway, absolutely stuns in her return to romantic comedy, the writing felt a bit elementary. Luckily the passion between her and Mr. Galzetine was enough to keep the candle wick from completely burning out.
