the atmosphere, the styling, the colors… everything in this movie is so intoxicating it almost distracts u from how dark the story really is…
and anya… she just owns every scene she’s in… she makes the whole dream feel even sweeter and even scarier.
(the plot twist was genuinely so good, like the kind that hits and suddenly everything clicks)

i get it’s for the plot but my anxiety could not handle how long they stayed in those obvious anomalies.

it’s strange how something as simple as two women kissing can carry so much history behind it. queer love has existed forever, but for so long it had to survive in silence … hidden in letters, in glances that couldn’t last too long, in lives lived carefully because the world wasn’t always kind to it. people were punished, erased, sometimes even killed for loving someone of the same gender.

the film doesn’t turn this into spectacle. it just lets the moment exist: awkward, intimate, human. and somehow that simplicity makes it feel even more powerful. honestly, it’s easy to understand why this got an oscar nomination.
