I read the book first and it had my heart in a chokehold. This movie similarly had me in a chokehold. It was a brilliant adaptation. 

I know little of the horrors Sarah went through being forced into prostitution, but I do relate to not feeling worthy of love. I found Michael’s character incredibly healing. His love for Sarah and his willingness to wait for her despite her multiple attempts of running away (because she doesn’t feel worthy of him)…

For someone whose favorite genre isn’t thrillers, I loved this film. This story gripped me from the beginning. I was super invested in what was going to happen.
