i'm glad the film i expected to be great ended up being truly great. rocket is an effective narrator, and the film's structure and storytelling are done so well without feeling disorganized. the cycle of violence is brutal in itself and spares no one, not even children. they cannot choose their upbringing, and i believe that's why the contrast between rocket and li'l zé is so interesting. one manages to seperate himself from violence, while the other is consumed by it.

more than anything, i believe 'interstellar' is about a father's love for his children. it's a reminder that time isn't something we should take for granted, and because of that, it reminds us to focus on the present and to what we have right now. his love doesn't defy the impossible, but it's the reason he keeps going. it's a beautifully crafted film.

the narrative style made the story even more compelling, making me question the extent of the truth in the narrator's story. like the river, the story feels elusive. at the same time, the film is captivating in its style. i like how it started and how it ended. i'm still not sure what to feel about it overall. i might revisit it someday.

to dream is to endure. true immortality lives in the form of cinema. long live, cinema!

the film is divided into 6 segments based on sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch, and mind. each segment comes with different style and story which reflects the enduring power of cinema. the color scheme of each segment are also distinct from each other. truly one of a kind and utterly beautiful.

maggie cheung in another film with cheating themes? hmmm SAY LESS. alienated in a different, fast-changing place, they kept finding each other again and again.

art does bring people together, and in this film it connects five individuals from different backgrounds in a meaningful way. however, the centrism in this lost me, because who are we if not what we stand for? reducing everything to “ideology is the problem” feels overly simplistic.
