Breaking my Lucio Fulci cherry with a film that goes by many names but I think generally in the UK it’s known as Zombie Flesh Eaters. A film that for years found itself on the notorious video nasties list and was banned in the UK.

Watching it now, some 40 odd years later, of course it doesn’t have the same kind of impact but…

A post- apocalyptic horror film - 1/2.

Set in the Rocky Mountains three years after monsters obliterated 95% of the population, we are thrown into a post-apocalyptic world where the only place you are safe in 8000ft above sea level. Various outposts have popped up high up in the Rockies and we follow Will (Anthony Mackie), who must venture outside the safe zone to source vital filters for his son’s respiratory machine.

The early 2000’s, what a time to be alive. The heady days where social media was just in its very early days, hi Tom from MySpace 👋, the airwaves were filled with R&B and pop-punk, teen shows like Dawson’s Creek and The O.C. were everywhere, and Scream had rewritten the rules to the slasher movie a few years previously.

Time Cut is a time travel slasher set between present day and 2003 and I did love all those little nods…

I know I'm in the minority rating this film so high but I couldn't ask for anymore from an Everest disaster movie, from the spectacular cinematography, the great performances from the ensemble cast, the well defined characters and an intelligent script, this is really a true spectacle of a movie.

This was absolutely epic, a lot better than I was expecting it to be, I was all set to give it 4 and a half stars then I thought, what could it have actually done any better? The answer I came to was nothing, from the first scene to the last this is a white knuckle ride full of tension and suspense, there were a few scenes where I was actually holding my breath.
