feeling very normal atm
“i’m going to finish the job that Auschwitz couldn’t” son or “I was born in 1602, i’m the vampyre.” daughter
the thriller stuff is good, albeit not very groundbreaking or mystifying, and mostly predictable besides a pretty fun crescendo plot twist in the third act. however, what really stands out is how it executes the love interest subplot. while most films would make Havan Rose Lou’s character be boring, one-note, and “perfectly servicable”, Tuner manages to actually take the material and make it often more compelling than the thriller it serves to add stakes to. Very refreshing to see this kind of plotline and character fully fleshed out with a relationship that feels very human and three dimensional.
have a love-hate relationship with the mere existence of the movie and goddamn did it atone for that bias. far from great because there’s a lot here that doesn’t work, particularly in the first act, but WHOOF, that scene between Renate and Chiwetel was… crazy
This is one of those movies we were hype for, but now we’re like “oh yeah, that never came out” and we just don’t care anymore
