oops
the better texas chainsaw massacre audition tape made by a literal child playing at your local multiplex. unsubtle and haphazard screenplay directed with a shocking amount of care and economy. ejiofor really great. (let's get him in a perkins?) duplass awful awful awful. my taste normally aligns with lower brow, more tales from the crypt adjacent contemporary horror over solemn metaphors, but I think I respect the ambition of this more than Obsessions even if that one has better kills or whatever. Wan/Perkins/Duplass producer hivemind is kind of crazy. I know channel zero did it already but candle cove should get this treatment next.
an immense piece of cinematic artwork. like watching sixteen candles directed by scorsese in 'the irishman' mode. no other film has come closer to visualizing the ways in which capitalism corrupts the souls and futures of our youth with indecision. the overlit, digital photography creates an atmosphere of unreality, as if the film takes place in a world where the concepts of war and hardship are nonexistent. joey king gives the performance of her career, she has moments of heartbreak in this that approach soulful. shit piss balls listen to 100 gecs see 1917 i'm gay
