I caught on to most of the mystery pretty early I think, so I must be a master sleuth. Didn't make me any less interested in seeing it play out, anyway.

Pretty common of Bergman movies in general that the characters feel so real. Part of that is the dialogue but the real sell for me is during all the silence.
Simple movements and facial expressions create characters that don't feel like characters at all, and provide a depth beyond the script that brings all the emotion forward more than any words could.
