This concludes Polish week. Shame about the stuff going on in Poland in the 1980s because unfortunately it did result in a bunch of great movies (or at least the parts of them that aren't lost to censors)
What more can I say, we simply love to watch a beautiful and tightly edited film about a protagonist who longs to be a part of the world but is so opposed to participating in it that they find little option other than lash out and be swallowed by their own paranoia
The camera in this, with shockingly few exceptions, is in a static position and with a static tight focus (often, close on an actor’s face). That tight focus often is on an odd corner of the screen or at a point where an actor eventually will be. The result of this is a film where a lot of shots that are largely or wholly blurred.
