What got me the most about Backrooms wasn’t even the monster, but the constant feeling of discomfort. The endless hallways, the yellow lighting, the weird silence… it feels like a place that shouldn’t exist. And the beginning of the movie captures that feeling really well.

What makes it work is that it doesn’t try too hard at first. There are scenes where almost nothing happens, but you still feel tense because the environment itself is already unsettling enough.

Man, this movie was a joke. The “dystopian world” looked like it was designed on a middle school PowerPoint project. World-building? Please, they didn’t even bother. And the dialogue? Bro, I’ve heard ten year olds roasting each other on Xbox Live with more depth and better cussing. Every time they tried to be dark or edgy I couldn’t help but laugh  it felt like a parody of itself.
