1. If I hadn’t watched Return to Seoul recently I think I might have liked this more, but RtS really does feel like the apex of this particular genre — it’s infinitely more complex and sophisticated.
2. Just something a little shallow about it. Can’t help thinking that’s why white audiences have embraced it so much? Somewhat uncomplicated narrative of an extremely difficult and ugly topic. I wish it would let itself dwell in the ugliness, the spikiness. Let me into Nora’s head!
