Dekalog III turned a lie into something far sadder for me.
By the end, I wasn’t thinking about deception at all. I was thinking about loneliness and the quiet desperation of someone willing to fabricate an entire story just to spend a few hours beside a person they once loved.
Eva doesn’t lie out of malice, she lies because being alone on Christmas Eve feels unbearable. And somehow that makes the deception hurt even more.
