surprisingly fun for a movie about a creepypasta.
there’s something strange here; upon reflection, there’s the distinct feeling like the script never got past the setup for a movie, and as a result, various shots just sort of occur until the film ends. i dont know that better or tighter plotting would have improved the movie (and in fact might have been a lot worse), but it also didnt necessarily feel intentional.

i liked that the movie was fairly loudly about how MBA perverts and venture capitalist sickos are empty, meaningless people who would see all arts, culture and humanity stripped to the bone if it felt like it enriched them slightly. that felt like 2026 to me.
but i dont know, man. I found the entire film incredibly self-conscious. constantly the film felt like it was monitoring itself to make sure it had the prerequisite number of references to the original…

You have no idea how much i’d make any television show or comic book (anything longform) about various Fortean style investigations performed by sleazeball petty criminals my entire personality. like Warehouse 13 but all the characters are burnouts instead of feds.
especially such a series where the protagonist ends up in his tighty-whities an unusual amount of times.
weirdly and distractingly contrived for such a simple setup. when the movie got to the scary part it felt like rubber was meeting road but i think the ratio was off and the stuff around the scary part didn’t work for me.
there was a guy behind us who was hollering at the top of his lungs for every scare and it made the theater experience so much fun
