Watched with the lady. Oh man. I was so invested for half the movie and then it squandered almost everything. Clunkily rendered arc, dumbing characters to fail following the rules. It's not terrible. Just huge wasted potential. 4 stars for the impressive first half (not easy to make repetitions so engaging, visually too), 2 for the disappointing second.

(Seriously, MCs, you had one job.)

Lady's rec. And what a rec. Incredible visuals. Greig Fraser is cooking here. Great motif from Giacchino. Car chase very tactile. It managed to be its own vision of Gotham, which is a big compliment considering everything that came before it. It could have been shorter though. Not much fat, just needed a more brisk pacing. I still don't get the Farrell choice but it is impressive work.

I can't stop crying.

Though already long-diseased, my country finally died on November 4, 1995, and I don't think it's ever coming back.

Some may claim that beyond polished aesthetics and After Effects acrobatics, there isn't much in virtuosic cinematic expression to this doc, but this is something beyond cinema. This is a piercing cry for an end to the slow suicide of a society; it just uses the platform of cinema.

EVERYONE should watch this. Everyone.
