absolutely reeks of thinly veiled imperial japan/wwii apologism. two offhand lines about the characters not liking how the government handles information or that it gave its soldiers faulty killing machines doesn't add up to anything meaningful in the face of the glorification of kamikaze pilots and these sick ass planes we would've used, if only the war lasted a bit longer!
if you want a godzilla story about a soldier who makes a mistake in their first encounter with godzilla…
