Was Halle's character's name a Vox Lux reference?
With The Brutalist buzz going around (I can see there's already a good chunk of reviews because of it) I just wanted to pop in to remind everyone that this is a hilarious, ridiculously entertaining, and deeply scary movie that perfectly sums up what has happened to America in the 21st century. It's a movie to be taken very, very seriously. The most powerful achievement of this film is the rotten, apocalyptic atmosphere it conjures and how it's almost cosmic in how it magically seems to crystalize & observe our reality from an alien, future perspective. Ambitious indeed!

1. Celeste didn't sell her soul for fame. She sold her soul to not die. Becoming a pop star was the price she paid.
