1 Bedroom Summer Sublet Available in Somerville!

1 bedroom, fully furnished sublet available in Somerville, right in Davis Square. Move-in date can be anywhere between May 15 to June 1. It’s a less-than-five minute walk to the Davis Square stop on the Red T-line.

Rent would be $900 + approximately $70 for utilities (including cable and internet).

We’re on the first floor and there’s a living room with TV, a fully furnished kitchen (and a nice one at that), and bathroom.

The room has a closet, a dresser, a desk, and bed. There is access to a free washer and dryer in the basement and there is one parking space in the back.

I have a roommate already, she’s in the journalism department in Emerson.

Like I said before, you can move in between May 15 to June 1st. The room is available until September 1st, but there is a possibility of extending for the rest of the school year.

If you or anyone you know is interested, please call me at 347-596-1708 or email me at nadia.chaudhury@gmail.com.

Thanks!

i was recently accepted to AIB and i'm filling out the residence application. I've taken a tour of the housing (or atleast mackenzie and one of the victorian houses) and i'm digging it. But i wanted to know what are the better housing for artists - note: i don't really want to live in the victorian houses.

Hello :) I'll be transferring to LU next semester and just have a few questions about housing...

I'll be a sophomore. I was looking at the Victorian houses and the "traditional" dorms and it seems that the Victorian houses are mostly reserved for upperclassmen (with the exception of one, I think). Is that correct? Also, it seems that the dorms are relatively small anyway. If there's anyone who's lived in both the victorian houses and the dorms, it would be awesome to hear what the differences are between living in those two environments. I'm leaning toward Mackenzie mainly because of the substance free floor...any input on that dorm would be great, too.

Not sure if I'll get much of a response from this but thanks in advance!

Hey!

Yesterday I found out I was accepted to Lesley, and it's my top school so I'm very excited. I am being awarded the Dean's Scholarship as well, but I'm afraid that I still won't have enough money to afford the school. My first question is how is the financial aid at Lesley? Do you think they offer a lot of aid, an average amount, or less than average?

Secondly, how would you describe Lesley? Are the classes good (for an elementary edu major)? How are the dorms? I've visited the school at an open house, but I didn't get to go on the tour because it was raining too hard and my mother didn't want to wait around while it got worse since we were walking to catch the train. What should I know before attending Lesley?

prospective transfer

Hello :) I'm a prospective transfer student. I noticed this community isn't very active, so I might not get any replies, but I'll give it a shot anyway.

I'm currently majoring in English, but would also like to study Illustration. Lesley seems like a good fit because of the easy access to the art school (well, I assume it's easy; please correct me if I'm wrong). And from what I understand, I could minor in Illustration, which would be awesome.

I'm just curious if anyone here is a part of either the English or Illustration programs and could enlighten me about how good (or bad) they are. Also, in regard to academics in general, do you guys feel challenged in your classes and whatnot?

Thanks!

online buffy seminar

I wanted to let this community know that I will be teaching an online course at the Massachusetts College of Art on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. (Please pardon the self-promotion and any cross-posting, but I thought it was an appropriate announcement for this community.) I’d like to encourage interested members to sign up for some serious fun.

My background: I’ve taught several seminars on the Buffyverse at the Massachusetts College of Art and Emerson College over the past three years. I’ve published two articles on the series at Slayage (which you can find at http://slayageonline.com/ in issues 19 and 22.) I’ve presented articles at a several conferences, including the latest biannual one on the Whedonverses, Charming and Crafty at Harvard University, and for the Popular Culture and American Culture Associations.

What you can expect: The course will give students the rare opportunity study the evolution of a single, long-running series in its entirety. This course will offer you the depth of understanding granted by courses that study the work of a single director. Students will practice a variety of critical approaches on a single subject: genre and auteur theory, cultural studies, and close reading of individual episodes. The goal will be a more complete understanding of the series and its meanings. (Translation: it’s not fanboy, but I do respect the artistry and politics of the series.)

The price of admission: It’s $710. The course materials would be buying a few books, and either renting or purchasing seasons of the series. The start date would be January 29th and it would end on May 7th. You’d get an enriching experience and 3 academic credits.

You can see how to register for “Truths My TV Told Me: Deconstructing Buffy” (CSB 315X-C1) here: http://www.massart.edu/at_massart/…

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at my Emerson account, which is David_Kociemba “at” emerson “dot” edu.

Hello all. I am a senior in high school interested in Lesley. I was wondering: are freshmen allowed to keep cars on campus? I sort of... live out of mine, and if I am not allowed it on campus I will be forced to sell it, which is not practical for me at all, since then I'll REALLY be homeless.

Thank you,
Marissa
