So.
Here's a folder of the music from chapters 80 - 89. I left out U2's 'With or Without You' because everyone's heard it and, frankly, that was a case of me wanting to use the lyrics without actually being a fan of the song they came from. I also left out Echo & The Bunnymen's 'The Killing Moon', replacing it instead with the Nouvelle Vague cover, only because while Echo & The Bunnymen is one of my favourite bands, I thought it might be nice to hear a different version of the song.
Leadbelly Chapters 80-89Here's the tracklisting:
The Killing Moon (Echo & The Bunnymen Cover) - Nouvelle Vague
A Telegram from the Future - The Russian Futurists
Running the World - Jarvis Cocker
The Village in the Morning - Magnetic Fields
The Night that Minnie Timperley Died - Pulp
I Wish I Had An Evil Twin - Magnetic Fields
Christine - House of Love
Oxygen - JJ72
The Death of Ferdinand de Saussure - Magnetic Fields
In The Neighborhood - Tom Waits
Whole Wide World - Wreckless Eric
Cornershop - Babybird
Sugar World - Magnetic Fields
JJ72's 'Oxygen' was a strange choice for me because I don't like the vocals at all, but I do like most other things about it. I sometimes wonder who'd be more suited to sing it (obviously in my most humble of opinions), and I've settled on Stephen Jones, the lead singer of Babybird. The song could really do with much less grating adolescent angst, and more Burt Bacharach/Dusty Springfield soul.
So why'd I stick it in the folder? So you can be the judge.
Here's a lovely Babybird track that I hope you'll enjoy. I've always loved the twisted, sexually-charged lyrics. The mood of the album version is much different. Faster. I prefer this one...
Oh, and here's ANOTHER wonderful Babybird track (in case you don't like the first one - I'm really giving Babybird the hard sell today).
