Some people naturally affect electronic and electrical devices when in a state of emotional agitation (and in my case, drain all the charge out of batteries just by picking them up and holding them for a couple of seconds).
This must be tapped.
In a discussion with a netfriend, the following plan was reached. This is near verbatim from the conversation:

It's so tempting to team up and go to the electrical product fairs.
oh wow. and go off our meds first. and watch/listen to something really aggravating
Failing all else, our combined scream should be enough to break glass.

So there we have it. If you can make your TV or monitor go white noise by yelling at it, or if lightbulbs pop when you're biting back the emotions, we want to hear from you. EMP Force Is Go!

So this is something I would probably have done months ago if I had money to spare on pineapples. Sadly I don't so, having been reminded today, I thought I'd post it here.

So the thinking is as follows:
a) Pineapples are funny looking fruit.
They're kinda spiky and have those amusing big green bits sprouting out of the top. And even though they can be easily bought at most supermarkets they aren't considered common fruit in this country; not having been programmed into our consciousnesses from childhood with that whole A for Apple, B for Banana thing.

b) There are certain places people don't expect to see fruit.

I was reminded of this idea today because I saw a banana lying on the ground by a building. Obviously a banana had been dropped and that was that.
But what if there were a pineapple sitting on a postbox/street-light/bus shelter; that's extremely random, not readily explainable and will make people stop and look.
Obviously this can be achieved in various public places with a variety of fruit, the more comical the better.

Speaking personally if I were walking through a public place and saw a pineapple (or something like that) innocently/stoically sitting somewhere unusual it would put a smile on my face.

It has occured to me that not many people celebrate St Georges Day. It certainly doesn't appear to be an excuse for drinking or wearing stupid hats as St Patricks is.
I think that there should be some form of annual re-enactment in public (possibly on village greens up and down the country) where someone dresses up as a knight and play-fights someone (or a group of someones) in a dragon costume, then there would no doubt be some girl in a pointy hat to play the princess. It would all be horribly inaccurate and cheesy.

The reason that i want such a thing to happen (and in fact to be instituted retroactively) is that it seems like a brilliant event to subvert. Then people could go about enacting scenes where the dragon beats George or the princess wallops them both, or possibly she breaks up the fight and declares that, actually, she has quite a thing for scales.
Of course people could do that anyway now (and it would probably be fun) but they wouldn't be subverting some kind of tradition.

Is it odd to want to institute a national tradition just so i can find ways to subvert it?

I want to throw an improvisation party. Get a load of people together, with snacks, food and drinks. Treat it like a normal gathering but throw in an improv game every half hour or so. I think some of my minions, er friends, would react interestingly to this situation. If it went particularly well take it onto the street and start involving random strangers or staging fights or otherwise being a menace to the community at large.

This is self-evident, as dragons are mythological/fictional and cats are most definitely real. Therefore, one cannot successfully breed them in real life - even assuming that long-discredited theories of hereditary development had something in them and by dressing up toms or queens in dragon suits, that might affect what actually gets born. However, this in itself has a purpose.

1. What about D&D porn? Dress the cats up in dragon/other creature suits, stick them in a suitable set/backdrop and film the end results. Digitally adjust the footage and redub the soundtrack (if anyone has any idea what sexually excited dragons sound like, of course), and you have D&D live action creature porn for warped geeks.

The Giant Squid has never made an appearance in any hentai film.

2. But my main thought is that cats and dragons can mate easily in fiction, and definitely in animation. So if any artistically-minded readers think they're up to the task - cat/dragon hentai. We can have cats which suddenly grow tentacles as well as Chinese Water Dragons (naturally tentacletastic) if you really must have tentacles in this. And we must.

You get about 20-25 people together in a large room or outdoors on a nice day.
You get a supply of large cardboard boxes, the kind that fridges or other appliances come in and set up three at one end of the space.
You pick out whoever's the defending ship (usually by raffle, but no worries, everyone gets a turn eventually)
They go to the end with the boxes. Everyone else lines up in ranks at the other end.
Now, you need a bag (free plastic carrier bags from supermarkets are fine) for each person except the defender.
Then, you distribute a bagful of beanbags, small rubber/plastic balls, anything similar (not cricket balls or squash balls - too hard) to each Invader and divide the rest between three buckets that are inside each box, allowing the Defender to duck inside and reload.
I'm sure you get the picture now.

You can have a conductor to help the Invaders know what they're doing. In fact, it's advisable since this would be played drunk/silly/both. You also need a random person to run across the top blasting an airhorn from time to time.

So no matter how tempting the idea of breaking into forbidden planet and stealing all of the motorised daleks to race down broad street might be, it's not likely to happen :(

What I actually said was to race the pull-back-and-go toy Daleks, thus distinguishing them from the battery operated variety. And I'm only suggesting stealing them because Forbidden Planet isn't open right now. If we can restrain ourselves until shop hours, then obviously we can buy them in a legitimate manner.


In addition, it is vital that those annoying vibrating rubber ducks that you see in places like Hustler Hollywood or Ann Summers be finally put to a good use. What I want to know is: how fast will they vibrate themselves over water, and is the speed affected by things like the batteries used, the model of duck and so on. Can the motors be overcharged in some way to speed things up? Will other novelty vibrators be capable of racing over water? (waterproof models only in the powered races, others may try for sail power)
This can, of course, all take place in public for the edification and education of all: The First Birmingham Sex Toy Regatta must, nay, shall occur!

After an entertaining game of Junta at HoG followed by me losing money at poker I suggested that we should gamble on somethimg I'm good at, like chess or mah jong. I also suggested Go but it needs to be mentioned seperately because I'm not good at it. For some reason nobody else thought that this was a good idea, curse them and their money grabbing ways.

The only thing that has been mentioned since a few times is the idea of playing Junta with real money. For those that do not know this is a game in which the players are all acting as corrupt politicians in a bananna republic and the winner is whoever gets the most money from the US foreign aid budget into their swiss bank account, a great game by all concerned. A couple of people have now commented that this is clealy a great idea (anyone with an ounce of common sense can see that the inverse is true, but fortunately nobody like that associates with me) I even ended up discussing with toxicpixie what the exchange rate between Junta money and real money should be.

I don't think anyone seriously expects this game to happen, ergo it should. Anyone up for it?

Sometime ago I joked about tieing a certain individual to some railroad tracks in the hope of this spontaneously generating a white knight. The idea was soon forgotten about and left to rot. Until the ever encouragable cartimandua heard about it and we started talking about it and expanding the idea. This has been going for some time and despite the idea never having taken form it doesn't seem to want to die either.

In it's current incarnation the act has grown into making a silent movie with your traditional. There exists a digital videocamera for the endevour. Also there exists a person who knows a few places we can get away with it without getting hit by a train or having some similar misfortune who can almost certainly (if you'll pardon the pun) be roped into it.

Is there anyone else who feels that this has the potential to be turned into a great day out?
