There's a wild Guerrero wandering the halls of the Barge, folks.  Stopping here, stopping there; the Admiral took his things, and while he might not need his tools?  He certainly feels better with them.

Especially if he's going to be stuck in a prison.

Hello, Guerrero; meet your friendly neighborhood dinner-shifter.

Who went through the same process when he was new.

"They count the silverware," he offers in a friendly, conversational tone in passing. Not that he's assuming anything about your motives, as you stealthily check people out.

"There is. And it's not as hard as it used to be back when they had someone with advanced senses on shift. Although..."

He takes a drink of his chamomile-- good drink before bed-- and flicks his eyes toward his new most interesting breakfast-shifter. Doctor Lecter.

"No guarantees the new batch are your standard trustees."

"How new and how into law and order they are... I wouldn't give odds on the Doc, though. I don't know him well enough." His face was guileless. "'Course, that's just me bullshitting; not like anyone's trying to walk off with a knife or a spoon..."

Library

Funny who you run into in the horror section. Hannibal Lecter calmly wandered by, cane tucked under his arm, his hands freshly bandaged. He was even humming something from Goldberg Variations.

He paused briefly when he saw the newcomer, and his eyes swept over Guerrero with professional keenness, then...politely looked away. Continuing to hum, the guy from the famous horror movie moved down the ways to suspense, arching an eyebrow at some of the titles.

Library

Hannibal noticed he was being followed fairly quickly, and gave no indication save for a deepening of the amused look on his face. He poked through that section, then calmly moved on, into nonfiction, to slowly peruse their woefully inadequate psychology section. He was the picture of calm. No nervous tics, no indication of interest in is surroundings beyond the cursory. Every once in a while his nostrils flared. That was it.

He moved on to cooking.

Hannibal lifted an eyebrow and turned, inclining his head in polite greeting. "Something new and interesting. The library was recently remodeled and I was hoping they had gotten something new in this section, but...I have read them all." A faintly rueful smile.

Mark Hoffman is getting re-adjusted to the barge. Falling overboard and being stuck left him bruised and tired and sore. Old habits die hard however and he moves particularly quietly throughout the ship. Which is probably how he ends up a few feet away from the guy in the closets.

Okay. He's new.

So he'll just stand here and be quiet-quietly observing him.

Well sure!

[personal profile] lastmanstanding 2012-06-03 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Hoffman figured the man had to be new. Older denizens of the barge usually provoked reactions of acceptance bordering on unease. This...A warden would have announced themselves. This had to be a new inmate right? Unless he was a newer warden?..

He kept his thought processes hidden, "No. Do you?" An eyebrow was raised, "If you like I can help you find it. Or answer any questions you might have."

"I can show you the way if you'd like." He saw that there. No connection, no concern. Inmate, rooting around in the closets.

"No really good books in the closet. Believe me I've looked." He braced himself, slipping into a ready for anything stance. "I can take you there if you like. Mr..."

He might run into Willow, in that case, prowling about - a barely restrained animal, kept at bay by threats. ...Sulking, in truth, knowing that she can't bare her fangs.

Still, she can't resist coming closer when she sees a man - and something in her eyes still says prey, even if she can't play.

"I liked the one on my world better," she whispered, glancing out at the sky. The screaming people.
