BRUCE AND EDDIE (Morning)
From the Visitors' Center they'd acquired flashlights, which seemed important, and Bruce was embarrassed he'd forgotten to pack them.
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning? Idk I'm just too organized)
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
"Hayley?" he called out softly, not wanting to attract anything.
And this place was...strangely familiar. Something he might have seen as a kid.
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
Although the last port hadn't been dangerous, Dick's call for an 'adventurous' port combined with what had happened with Perry in the space station made her more than a little nervous this time. For once, as she glanced around and recognized the Jurassic Park center for what it was, she was grateful.
As soon as the over-sized jacket was on and her bag was slung across her chest again, she started moving over toward her warden. "Tell me you didn't get any warning about this port and just forget to share."
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
He waited until she was ready to go and headed down the stairs fully, turning around to look at it. "Why does it look familiar?" There weren't many movies that he recognized, but his parents had loved this one from when they were kids.
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
A beat. "But that does mean there's probably dinosaurs here. And, judging by the destruction to this place? I'd say they're wandering free."
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
But, he supposed that if he was going to watch terrible science movies using terrible science, he was glad that it was this one. He vaguely remembered this place, the Visitor's Center, but he didn't know what had happened to it. Something about a dinosaur fight. The "normal" little boy inside of him really liked that part.
"I know," he finally said. "But as long as we avoid them as much as possible, then we'll be fine," he told her, but he didn't really know how plausible that would be.
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
It was a sincere question. The inmate trusted her warden more every day, generally, and would at this point nearly jump off a bridge if asked -- though, of course, she would ask a couple dozen questions as to why and what had prompted it first.
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!) - Tagging 3 of 31 tags = success? :| If lj didn't suck, I'd try more.
Hayley reached out to set a hand on his arm, trying gently to stop him, then reached a hand into her bag and began to blindly dig around in there. Finally her fingers closed around the item and she slid the small sphere out from among the contents of her survival kit. "Here. It's a smokebomb. You just throw it down and it puffs out some smoke.. Courtesy of Dick Grayson. Oh, and I have my night-vision goggles and taser too."
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!) -SUCCESS!
He started walking again, but backwards, facing her. "Hopefully, we won't get close enough that we'll need the taser."
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
"I was more thinking in case we run into Coyo or Tony Stark." She flashed an exaggerated grin at that to show that she wasn't entirely serious about it. "But I guess it could be good against the dinosaurs too."
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
HAYLEY AND CAPA (Morning!)
"Oh. I guess you weren't around. He was here before. His last name is Stark, he's an alcoholic and a total asshole and just a little too much like my dad in some ways for me to be okay with him. I mean, maybe if he was nice, but he's not. He's a total jerk and hits on anything that moves and he's rich and famous where he's from, so he thinks he's the best thing ever."
BRUCE AND HAYLEY (Mid-Afternoon)
He handed her a still-sealed water bottle from his pack, one still a little cool to the touch. "It's probably best to stay hydrated, because it's so hot." Awkward pause. "I mean, you probably already know that, of course." Another pause, that leaf on that tree was intensely interesting, and-
Bruce sighed, and looked at her again, both hopeful and anxious. "Listen, can we talk?"
BRUCE AND HAYLEY (Mid-Afternoon)
"Of course!" She answered cheerfully, forcing a smile on her lips. Even though it was obvious, she still preferred to try to fake her way through the tension and pretend she didn't want to murder him with her eyes at times. After all, he hadn't really done anything wrong and she knew it was immature to hate him just for not trusting him-- she silently noted that Capa would probably be proud of that acknowledgment; it was progress. "What's up?"
Re: BRUCE AND HAYLEY (Mid-Afternoon)
"It's just... this whole trusting thing. I know I said it over the network, but I just want to emphasize that its nothing against you." He held up a hand before she could protest that, indicating that he wanted to explain further. "I know how that sounds. At least I think I do. Secrets really shouldn't exist between friends, but trust me when I say that its really better that you don't find out." A pause, then he continued again, a bit hesitantly. "If I said it was for your safety, would that make me sound worse?"
BRUCE AND HAYLEY (Mid-Afternoon)
She shifted uncomfortably, glanced the distance to Capa, then looked down at the water in her hands. "I told you I understand. If you don't want to trust me, that is your choice and I'm really.. I'm trying to respect it. I am."
Like she was trying to understand why Marco didn't want to tell her about his punching her boyfriend and why Bruce didn't want to tell her anything at all even though she already knew his biggest secret.
DRAMATIC DINOSAUR ATTACK (Early Evening)
Re: DRAMATIC DINOSAUR ATTACK (Early Evening)
The roar startled him for a second. Part of him reacted to it, seemed to want to meet that roar with one of his own. Want to fight want to smash that creature to bits protect everyone protect her. Not Betty. Hayley... He fell back against a tree and wiped sweat from his brow. His pulse was climbing.
"Maybe if it doesn't hear us, we'll be fine..." His voice was strained. He tilted his head back against the warm bark of the tree, and breathed deeply. Control, focus; both he needed, and both he was losing.
DRAMATIC DINOSAUR ATTACK (Early Evening)
The roar made her freeze and then crouch slightly, keeping her on her feet but making her a little harder to spot. She glanced over at Capa, then Bruce, then-- no, her eyes went back to Bruce. He didn't look so good. The girl, despite all of her avoiding, begrudgingly let out a quiet, "Are you okay?"
DRAMATIC DINOSAUR ATTACK (Early Evening); short tag before sleep
He looked to Capa, eyes desperate, and spoke quickly. "I need you to take Hayley and Eddie far from here. Okay? I can't explain right now. Just-" He shuddered, and was close to doubling over. The monitor at his wrist began beeping in warning. "Just, please go!"
