Who: Paddy, Snape and Peter? (swing in when you're avaliable, guys, I meant to do this earlier.)
When: The dead-of-night.
Where: The infirmary.
What: Drug theft attempt. Getting Caught. Consequences.
Warnings: Possible violence. Paddy doesn't tend to come quietly.

Theft was pretty much second nature to him, and drug dealing was pretty much first nature to him. So when the request for something a little stronger than his attempt at booze trading came up, he was prepared to work it out and do it, no matter of the difficulty. He knew he had to set himself up as first point of call, and doing something as dangerous as trying to steal from the infirmary... well, that'd pay off quite well. He'd make sure it'd pay off well, and once he got somewhere better to hide his alcohol, he was up and running. Again.

So he snuck into the infirmary in the dead of night, when everyone was asleep, he thought, a balaclava pulled over his face and made his way to the drugs cabinet. He presumed most of the infirmary staff, if present, would be attempting to sleep too. There hadn't been, really, enough forethought in this, because he'd been in such a rush to take the opportunity, so when he got to the drugs cabinet and found it had... well, more complicated locking systems than he'd ever seen, he was frustrated. Paddy tried, as quietly as possible, to simply break the lock off, but it made far more noise tha he'd have liked and it certainly didn't seem to be going very far.

Severus had always been a night person; when he had taught at Hogwarts, he had been the one to volunteer for those midnight rounds of the school. People - especially hormone-driven adolescents - seemed to believe that the dead of night was the best time to get something illicit accomplished. Of course, it was probably the worst time, in his opinion.

However, it was the best time to reorganize things. Unless someone (who had most likely been up to illicit activities) came to the infirmary in need of stitches, he would most likely be left alone.

Or, in this case, someone came in with the idea of breaking in and stealing things. Paddy's approach to the infirmary hadn't exactly been stealthy, so Severus doused the light from his wand and waited. He allowed his eyes to adjust to the low light and finally spotted Paddy at the drugs cabinet. Well, what did he expect from his fellow inmates?

He quietly crossed the room to block the door and flipped on the light switch.

Severus looked at Paddy with indifference. Since the recent flood, he had carefully toed the line, ensuring that there was ample trust placed in him by the wardens. He had cultivated this trust, and Paddy was asking him to set aside his own ambitions over a piddling circumstance like this.

Of course, it was unlikely he would ever be discovered to have a part in the crime, but should it come out before his own plans could come to fruition...The choice was obvious. He couldn't risk it.

It took him less than two seconds to decide to draw his wand an point it calmly at his fellow inmate. He may not be able to harm the other man, but he could certainly incapacitate him. "I have no intention of going down on your proverbial sinking ship...and I assure you, whatever you intend to do with your brute strength is nothing but a mere nuisance compared to what I can do with magic."

Severus, from years of being constantly on his toes, was ready for the blow. He ducked.

He felt a hesitancy to use his wand on the other man, hoping that he would, instead, come to his senses and desist. If Snape did anything without appropriate provocation, he could be the one held in suspicion.

He snarled, "I won't warn you again."

Snape swore and raised a hand to his mouth. It came away bloody.

Well, that would teach him to hesitate from now on.

He turned his wand back on Paddy and fired off a disarming hex. Even if there as nothing to disarm, he could throw the man a few dozen feet.

"I didn't wish to fight you in the first place," he replied flatly. "If I must do so, I intend to win without bloodying my knuckles."

He quickly glanced behind him, his wand still trained on Paddy, looking to see if any wardens were wandering the halls this late. It was highly unlikely.
