Who: Armand, Aerith & Gojyo
What: Gojyo has invited Aerith over to cook together, nothing can go wrong!
When: end of March
Where: Gojyo's cabin (also Armand is there)
Warnings: discussion of various types of self harm & suicidal ideation
Gojyo might not necessarily give off the impression of a guy who has a kitchen, but everyone has their own mysteries! It might or might not be surprising that he has an organized looking cabin in general (though his furniture has yet to fall prey to... certain people's opinions on how they could be upgraded), but it's not a level of neat and organized that gives off the impression of any sort of obsessiveness.
The kitchen itself... definitely has the air of a place that mostly used by people who have extremely specific opinions on where everything should go and that it should remain in the place where it goes. It's a specificity that might not always match what someone else might consider a more obvious place, but that doesn't make it any less organized.
Aerith may have noticed a closed door when going through into the kitchen. Sometimes that means the roommate Gojyo may not have brought up in casually conversation is out. Sometimes it doesn't mean that.

Anyway! Having secured a recipe for taco rice from Hakkai and what necessary ingredients weren't already stocked in his kitchen, Gojyo opens the door for himself and Aerith with an exaggerated sweep of his arm.
"Well, welcome to my humble abode~ To your left, you'll find the famed kitchen, which does, in fact, exist."
Kicking his shoes off in the hallway (they always magically make their way onto the shoe rack anyway) he heads into said kitchen to dump his bag of groceries.
no subject
She grinned up at him, and made to slide her boots off, as well as set them on the shoe rack. She might have carefully set his shoes on there too before straightening up, without thinking much of it, before joining him in the kitchen.
"Here- let me help unload the bag." She noticed the door was closed, but didn't think anything of it. It could be a bedroom, it could be a bathroom. It could be a fighting ring as far as she knew.
no subject
"Sure", Gojyo says as he puts the bag down on the table before he starts unloading. Aerith can help if she wants.
"You wanna get started right away, or should I put on tea?"
It'll be cheap bagged tea, but Aerith knows this by now. Gojyo might have worried, for a moment, that she was going to want to talk about that sad kid she'd encountered, but somehow it was easy to say yes to meet up. Things have been oddly easy overall this whole week.
no subject
"Let's have some tea. That'll go well for the tea, and we can have it while we wait for the rice to cook, right? Or something like that."
She didn't bring up that little boy. Not yet. That was something that he'd need some distance from she thought.
no subject
"You got it."
There probably is a selection of fancier tea on account on a certain roommate, but Gojyo defaults back to what he's used to when left to his own devices. He pauses the grocery-picking long enough to put on the kettle before going to pull out a bag of rice from one of the kitchen cabinets.
"Man, I haven't cooked a thing in literal years. Please treat me gently."
Aerith might recognise that as one of those stock polite Asian phrases.
no subject
It's not flirting, really!
"Only if you treat me gently too. I can make my way around rice and cutting things, but I'm sure not a chef."
no subject
"Guess that means I'm the one on stove duty today."
no subject
She smiles up at him, happy. They're friends, she likes to think.
"...and if it doesn't turn out well, we'll feed it to Hakkai and run away."
no subject
Aerith is... less accustomed to looking around and seeing that Armand had suddenly shown up and is reorganizing the cutlery drawer (it's just one of this things).
He does offer a polite nod.
no subject
"You didn't need to use the kitchen, right?" he asks Armand, and come this point he doesn't miss a beat when Armand is just suddenly There.
Gojyo could probably have given a heads-up about using the kitchen. But, well, Armand isn't the only person with certain habits.
no subject
Yup now she's remembering what happened with the mistletoe on New Years. Why is Gojyo being so casual???
She's not saying a word. She's just jerking backwards, stepping around, and yup. She has made sure that the red head is between them.
no subject
"Only to check on ingredients."
He's not flirting. He doesn't even say 'on our ingredients' add something like 'for later'. It's just... casual in a way he very noticeably isn't with most people.
"I see things have been slightly reorganized."
By which he means there's the lack or organization that comes when Gojyo has used a draw, but there's amusement to it. It's not as if he expects Gojyo to keep things the way he does. Nor does he want him to, really. "Hello, Aerith." A nod hello is perfectly polite! But if she's going to react strangely, he's willing to go (slightly) out of his way. Since she's apparently a guest.
no subject
Oh. Gojyo reaches to smack the back of Armand's neck.
"Oi, don't do that when there's people around. You'll end up scaring someone."
And turning to Aerith and putting a hand on her arm:
"Sorry, sorry. This guy lives here, too."
no subject
Oh, was Armand...in love?
Aerith felt her face flush, realizing after a few moments she was staring at the vampire.
"Hi Armand." Her voice was soft, seeming shy as she ducked her head, before looking up at Gojyo. Her hand went to touch Gojyo's in assurance as she continued with:
"Sorry. He surprised me. I didn't realize you were living together."
no subject
Honestly, that he finds Gojyo funny says a lot more about his feelings than not not trying to avoid Gojyo's smack does. Though, to be fair, his iPad is always within easy reach, even if he's not holding it. Still, he's not holding it.
He hides his amusement at her assurance, though not behind the detached air that he usually goes to when he's hiding an emotion.
"Is it more surprising than he's been known to use a kitchen?"
no subject
"Yeah, I know. He literally tiptoes when he thinks no one is looking."
Gojyo is the most respectful roommate.
"And hey, I could cook this meal all by myself if I had a mind to!"
(Gojyo has not cooked a single meal since Armand moved in. Unless you count instant ramen.)
no subject
Aerith tried to rally herself, giving Gojyo's arm a squeeze, before moving to drop her hand.
"I always thought that Armand glided, not tiptoed." She told Gojyo. "And I knew Armand worked in the kitchen. But if that means you don't want me to help you after all, Gojyo..."
no subject
Armand is well aware how his behavior comes off to someone who... well, more or less knows how he usually is. But the important part is that there's nothing to suggest it except for the obvious comparison.
He gives Gojyo another dry look.
"Yes, I can't even count the number of times you've cooked up meals here." 'Zero' is hard to count to. No, it's Armand who makes the food that he doesn't even eat. Which is exactly how he likes it, of course. He doesn't always get his ways and he certainly doesn't get his way as often as he'd like to (always), but there are some situations where it's easy. "As a master chief, there's so much he could teach you," he adds to Aerith.
no subject
Pleased with himself for now having planted that image of Armand in everyone's mind, Gojyo gathers three tea cups, three tea bags, and pours the boiled water. Armand also gets a cup because, well, he's here now.
"Yeah, yeah! Like such inspiring messages as 'dividing the burden of cooking between each other is next to godliness'."
There's probably a line something like that in a Buddhist scripture somewhere.
no subject
But she stepped away, making sure she had Armand and Gojyo both in her view- also to make sure that he wouldn't have his elbow jostled with him pouring tea.
"Well, he's teaching me how to make taco rice, since it came up during my birthday celebration." Aerith told Armand. "So I don't know if we'll be easing any burdens. Most likely we'll be making a mess instead. I'll help clean up though."
And be hyper aware of casual vampire the whole time.
no subject
He takes the cup with a nod of thanks. He usually does. It grants a certain air of normality, which can be a little odd in its own way, depending how much people have seen of him.
"I feel very inspired." He raises his cup of tea, not trying to hide his amused look. "I see you found the rice. You're already off to a good start."
no subject
Which probably translates to 'Aerith will clean up'. To Aerith:
"I've never actually made taco rice, mind. Just got the recipe from Hakkai."
no subject
"Well...we got everything we need for a proper taco rice according to Hakkai. Right?"
A pause.
"Oh, and where do you keep the milk and sugar...?" Since they were pretending that everything was normal and fine, she'd pretend it was normal and fine. And it would be!
Provided Armand didn't get too close or spill the beans. The former far more likely then the latter simply because...Armand did not care.
She knew that. She could see it staring her in the face.
no subject
Armand has memorized a large number of recipes since he arrived on the Barge. He has standards, and that does translate into focusing on meals suited to both provide both enough food for people and offer a more or less balanced diet. And he enjoys cooking for Gojyo, in the same way he generally enjoys cleaning up after him. But there are gaps.
He fetches the milk and sugar, navigating the kitchen with ease even with the additional people.
As far as he's concerned, there's nothing to spill.
That would mean he sees a reason to hide who he's slept with.
no subject
Huh. Aerith still seems a bit on edge. Still freaked out over the sudden scare, or...?
"I'll have you know it's a delicacy. Apparently it transcends worlds, right, Aerith?"
