All Good Things
What do you get when you combine a scheming Shakespearian villain, a magical cat who borders on being a demigod, a whole lot of intense, messy emotions, and piss-poor communication?
Drama. So much drama.
Really, it's a wonder it hasn't happened sooner.
But one day everything is fine, and the next things on the Barge are... off. At least with the 'stray' cat population that makes up the Cat King's court. Without his encouragement to treat the humans on board civilly so long as they make no attempts to harm them, they're back to behaving as proper ferals - hissing and swatting at people who enter their space, even accidentally. Swiping food from plates in the dining hall when their owner turns away for too long. Even some unfortunate marking. People who have built up a relationship with these cats organically are mostly fine, but everyone else? Potential threat.
Occasionally the Cat King is among them, a particularly dour looking orange tom, quick to lash out at anyone who tries to get handsy. His human form is a rare sight, but can be caught - clad in black - sitting on the railing on Deck, or in a dark corner of the Speakeasy. Expression dark. He turns his back on people who try to approach, no matter how hot they might be, which is at least as alarming to those who know him as the fact that he actually appears to be drinking multiple White Russians, rather than simply nursing them all night.
Those who keep an eye on his movements (let's be real, mostly Hanna), will note that he's aggressively avoiding Iago's cabin, where he once spent most of his nights and frequently parts of his days, as well. His own cabin is getting far more use.

It's only when he recognizes this specific orange cat that he doesn't attempt to back away quickly. Maybe he has some insight as to why cats are being insufferable these days.]
Hello?

If you have reason for speaking to me, I suggest you explain yourself. Quickly. Otherwise, fuck off.
[He doesn't care if Ciel is a kid. He's not going to baby him.]

Having a bad day? [Understatement. But he was hoping to know why all the cats seem to be having a bad day, too.]

[It's not Ciel's fault he's in a foul mood, but he feels no remorse for his tone, either.]

Glancing over at CK, he ventures a remark. "Well, you seem more sulky than usual. What's the matter, cat got your tongue?"
After which he'll move back a little, just in case CK tries to scratch his eyes out.
cw: suicidal ideation (kind of?)
He doesn't move, though. Not even to turn to look at Ed. He just keeps staring out into that empty void of space.
Re: cw: suicidal ideation (kind of?)
"I can think of other things I'd rather stick down my throat thanks," he returns, his tone mild. Which might be in part due to the tobacco he's smoking; one that most refer to as weed.
"Throw yourself over the side as much as you like, but that's not going to end anything in this place."
Re: cw: suicidal ideation (kind of?)
"You want to suck a cock? Then piss off and find someone who cares."

"Tell me, does my heart call to you now? Do I thirst for revenge?" He should. He should want to destroy Iago and everything he holds dear for this betrayal. He's done it to plenty of playthings in the past. But all he really feels is numb and cold.

"You tell me," Kahl tells him. He doesn't see it on him, but that isn't everything. Sometimes people choose things their hearts don't call out for.
no subject
Maybe he'll understand.
"Why am I here," he finally responds, "when I can't change the way they want me to? When I can't even change in the ways I want to."

Cabin
He hasnt used it much, doesn't want CK to feel like he's insulting him, but privacy and safety is important when having rough conversations, so when he leaves his own cabin, the shape change bracelet does its work, and a small ginger bobtail trots down the hall to CK's cat flap.
Its a good thing they can actually talk like this, but Hanna is in a mood to listen because obviously his inmate needs it, poking his nose through the flap and looking around. At least the room isn't wrecked?
A questioning meow becomes, "hey, somethings up, you want an ear?"

Re: Cabin
"Im only half in. I can leave if you want, but seriously, man. What's up? Your court is out of sorts, and you're in here. What's wrong?"

CONTROL YOUR PEOPLE, SUPPOSED-CAT-KING.
Re: Text
They won't hurt you.
I've merely informed them that there's precious few here who can be trusted. I imagine your pet seems an obvious threat.

She liked to go on deck sometimes, and see the stars. It made her feel better in getting over all of her nerves. But...well. She had seen the cats, and how they had been behaving, and how the Cat King had been seen in human form.
Something was wrong. So, when she saw him sitting on the railing, she came over, and leaned over the railing, her arms dangling over the sides. She didn't say anything, but she was quietly worried for him.

And if he ends up hitting a spot closer to the Cat King's cabin more than the rest, that's just coincidence.
